Abstract
Acute suppurative parotitis is commonly caused by bacterial pathogens, with rare cases reported to be secondary to fungal infections. We present a case of Candida parotitis with disseminated infection resulting in carotid sinus hypersensitivity and subsequent syncope. We also present a brief review of literature surrounding this disease and a description of previously reported cases of Candida parotitis. To our knowledge, this is the first case of Candida parotitis presenting with syncope triggered by mechanical compression of the carotid sinus.
